As far as online multiplayer shooters go, they don’t get any bigger than Destiny 2 for PS4, XBox One, and PC.
The game casts the players as Guardians, protectors of the last human city. Players form parties with one another to raid enemy territory to regain the Light, the human’s power supply.
It’s a simple enough story, but it makes for some incredibly exciting gameplay—just ask its 875,000 daily players.
Two of the most sought-after weapons are Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten. But unlocking these hand cannons gun is no easy task.
If you want to add Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten to your inventory, here’s what you’ll have to do.
Why You Need Luna’s Howl
First, let’s talk about what makes Luna’s Howl so great.
Every weapon in the game has its own perks, but this cannon’s unique features make it one of the most powerful in the game.
One of the most annoying parts of any shooter is reload time. You’ve been pumping round after round into your opponents, and they’re nearly finished. Then, you need to reload, giving them an opportunity to escape—or fire back.
The Drop Mag perk greatly reduces the time it takes to reload. But it comes at a price: when you drop a magazine, you lose some ammo.
When you make two consecutive precision shots, you get bonus damage. This lasts until you miss a shot.
Every gun in the game has recoil, which causes your crosshair to jump around. And as a hand cannon, Luna’s Howl has a big kickback.
But thanks to the Zen Moment perk, every time you score damage with Luna’s Howl, it increases the weapon’s stability.
Beyond these perks, the gun has impressive base stats.
- Rounds Per Minute: 180
- Magazine: 10
- Impact: 78
- Range: 47
- Reload Speed: 86
- Handling: 42
These stats can be improved further through upgrades and customization.
How To Get Luna’s Howl
If you’re trying to add Luna’s Howl to your inventory, there are six quests you have to overcome.
Shock And Denial
Go to Shaxx, the Crucible overseer, in the Tower near the Vanguard to get things started.
In order to complete Shock and Denial, you simply need to compete in ten Crucible matches. The good news is, it won’t matter if you win or lose—even losses count toward your match total.
But don’t worry—this is the only easy step in the quest for Luna’s Howl.
Pain and Guilt
Aftershock and Denial, you move on to Pain and Guilt.
To complete the Pain and Guilt quest, you will need to acquire 150 hand cannon kills in Crucible matches.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to use a hand cannon to deal all of your damage. You only need to use a hand cannon to land the final blow.
But this is easier said than done, as the lower-level hand cannons don’t have the perks that increase Luna’s Howl’s stability.
You’ll also want to do this before you achieve too high of a rank. Otherwise, your opponents will be much more difficult to vanquish.
Anger and Bargaining
Once you complete the Pain and Guilt quest, return to the Crucible for more competitive matches.
This time, you will need to kill 100 enemies using Solar attacks.
Depression and Loneliness
After achieving your 200 Solar kills, take a breath. Depression and Loneliness is much simpler than the previous missions.
In order to complete this quest, simply play 3 Rumble matches. And again, losses still count toward your total.
The Upward Turn
Here’s where things get tough.
The next step is The Upward Turn, which is the most difficult step on the road to Luna’s Howl.
Equip your hand cannon again and return to the Competitive playlist.
This time, you have to get 100 precision final blows—using a hand cannon. Hope you got used to hand cannons during Pain and Guilt!
Reconstruction has a relatively simple objective, but it won’t be easy.
To complete this step in the quest, you’ll have to achieve the Glory rank of “Fabled.”
After you reach the Fabled rank, simply return to Shaxx to receive Luna’s Howl.
Why You Need Not Forgotten
After blasting away with Luna’s Howl for a bit, you might feel like it’s the best hand cannon you’ve ever used.
But Not Forgotten is even more powerful.
Not Forgotten also has the Zen Moment and Magnificent Howl perks. But it has three more perks of its own: Extended Barrel, Accurized Rounds, and Range Masterwork.
These perks greatly increase the range and accuracy of the weapon—making it easier to get precision kills.
How To Get Not Forgotten
The road to Not Forgotten is not as long as Luna’s Howl, but that doesn’t make it easy.
There are only two steps:
300 Kills with Luna’s Howl
First, equip Luna’s Howl and return to the Competitive playlist. Use Luna’s Howl to achieve 300 kills. It’s a simple task, but don’t expect to finish it quickly.
Step two is achieving the rank of Legend in Glory. This will need you to get 5500 Glory points—more than twice the rank of Fabled.
Once you’ve done this, return to Shaxx for Not Forgotten.
Very few players have the time to complete the tasks necessary to get this hand cannon. Armed with Not Forgotten, you can be sure that you’ll have a competitive edge in nearly every match you enter.
